April 28, 1945 was the day Baguio City was freed from the hands of the Japanese Imperial Army... the stories of the war are kept in the memories of those who fought for our freedom, our grand fathers and grand mothers.
On April 28, 2008 the Liberation of Baguio City was remembered with the opening of a photo exhibit at the Baguio-Mt Provinces Museum. Some 30 photographs from the US Archives, donated to the museum in 1990 were restored and framed.
Former mayor, former Baguio City police chief and war vet Ping Paraan played the role of a curator and guided the young ones and once, around the photographs, telling them how he and his men entered the city.
"There were no Americans with us when we freed our beloved city from the Japanese. But the Americans fully supported us with ammunitions..."
